"The Wilds" as we are locally known, offers fully equipped self-catering holiday accommodation.  We offer 3 joint ground floor cottage type units and 1 affordable (budget) flatlet. The town is uniquely located within a World Heritage Site, the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, and so surrounded by nature and wildlife. Our cottages are set in a natural tranquil garden on the St Lucia lakeside.  Situated in the main street away from the noisy town centre but within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A good base to travel from to nearby parks.

You are invited to stay in our individually furnished, standard, well equipped, homely, clean units. We are suited to accommodate overnight travellers, families with children, self-drive visitors, those who prefer to cook self and especially nature enthusiasts and those prefer the road less travelled.

All units have access to the garden area on the lakeside via a communal path through the premises to the swimming pool too. The cottages have no view of the lake but an own garden area separated by plants.

Come and enjoy the big garden area while watching the many birds, or just relax on a lounge chair under a tree in the cool breeze, drink a "sundowner" while you watch the sunset over the lake or cool down in the swimming pool.

Wildlife visits the garden like Tree Squirrels, Banded Mongoose, an abundance of birds, insects, butterflies, small reptilians, small bucks monkeys and at night Thick-tailed Bushbabies and sometimes hippo grazing the grass. 

St Lucia Wilds is privately owned and managed. This establishment is in operation since 1987. The owners live on-site and are always ready to give information and share their passion for the environment and nature.  This area provides beach and bush experiences. We see the sunrise over the sea and set over the lake.

We offer Self – Catering accommodation only, no meals.

3 Conjoined ground level cottage apartment units and 1 Flatlet with 6 steps to the only door. Building style and set up is dated with new equipment and old used together. The buildings and all areas are kept and maintained continuously. Each cottage and the flatlet have a garden area for own use with a braai (BBQ) facility and plastic garden furniture, separated by plants.

On-site, for all guests to use, is an all-year outdoor swimming pool, a garden area on the lakeside and a covered paved area at the pool. There are a few pool loungers and tables and chairs.

We are situated inside and surrounded by a nature reserve and wild animals share our living space. For all to stay happy, please note the following will NOT be allowed on the property: 

• plastic wheel bikes/trikes/bicycles, - skateboards, - noisy toys,
• drones here or in town, ketties (slingshots), pop guns,
• pop crackers and any kind of fireworks. 

TO MAKE A BOOKING kindly advise us with all details:

1. date arrival and departure,
2. the number of adults,
3. the number of children/babies and their ages,
4. special requirement requests.

• Making a booking indicates that you and sharing the accommodation have read, agreed to and understood the conditions of stay and cancellation policies.
• Confirmation requires a part payment deposit of 50% of the total due, within 24 hours of making a booking (or as agreed). No accommodation will be held without the correct amount of deposit paid. Proof of id may be requested by us if so required.
• Deposit payment methods: electronic transfer payments (SA accounts only) or credit/debit card.
• Full outstanding balance is payable on arrival or before. No cheques accepted.
• Payment will be for the full period and the number of persons booked. No changes to dates or persons will be accepted on arrival, unless in our favour, if possible.
• Rate is per person per night and maybe quoted as per unit per night.

We charge a refundable key and breakage fee of R300. This fee is payable on arrival, in cash only, and will be refunded on departure day from 8 am daily, after the unit is checked. Arrange for earlier departure and refund prior to the departure date. Any and all items broken or missing on departure or discovered after departure will be taken from the deposit. Serious breakage may result in criminal charges when you refuse to pay.

Arrival Time is from 13h00 to 18h00 (later arrival times up to 9 pm is to be advised). Regret no access to units before 1 PM.

Departure Time is 10h00 am latest.

Water: Municipal water/storage tank water is treated with much chlorine.

Climate: Sub-Tropical, warm winters, rainfall all year-peak in summer, very humid summers December to February.

Malaria: no risk area - season starts October peaks in Feb/Mar ends May. Non-drug measurements are advised. Precaution medicine is your choice, when in doubt, take some prevention it will make your stay so much more enjoyable and stress-free.

Permits & Licences: Check, it is your responsibility.  Familiarise yourself with size/bag limits, regulations. 

St Lucia Wilds, its agents and/or its employees shall not be liable for and the guests hereby waive and abandon any claims of whatsoever nature including, but not limited to, that for theft, injury or damage of whatsoever nature against the proprietors whether arising from the proprietor's default, negligence or otherwise. The guests in addition to the aforesaid, hereby indemnify the proprietors its agents and/or its employees against any claims which may arise from whatsoever nature, whether arising from the proprietor's default, negligence or otherwise.

Covid-19: By my stay/signature I hereby acknowledge that I/we enter the property at my/our own risk and of own volition and that I/we will have no claim against St Lucia Wilds, its owners, employees arising out of any bodily injury or death sustained by me/us due to the wilful act or omission, negligence or default of St Lucia Wilds, its owners, employees, agents or to any other cause whatsoever. This undertaking and acknowledgement are binding upon me, my heirs, executors and estate. *I/we understand St Lucia Wilds reserves the right of admission notwithstanding any reservation, confirmations or payments made.  * I/we undertake to notify (e-mail/cell) St Lucia Wilds immediately should I/we test + during or within 30 days after the stay.

We, St Lucia Wilds cc, are not responsible for electricity load shedding/breakages/ outages and safe continuous water supply/ restrictions due to drought and/or breakdowns. We are also not responsible for any satellite connections and internet/Wi-Fi supply, as it is not in our control or problems predicted. We do our best to provide these services within our ability as best we can.

Agreement cancelled will be refunded as set out below only:

No arrival or Early departure for any reason or Arrival with pets or Request to leave the premises - NO REFUND

14 days and less before arrival date - NO REFUND*

15 - 29 days before arrival date - 50% refund fewer commissions paid*

31 days and longer before arrival date - full refund less R75 admin fee +commission paid

*(A Refund will be considered only when period cancelled was filled again. The refund will be calculated pro-rate for days filled, less R75 admin fee + commission paid.) The payment transaction will happen within 1 week after the actual period cancelled. 

• Automatic cancellation if a deposit is not received on due date by 5 pm which is (24 hours after making a booking or reservation).
• No Visitors are allowed on the premises at any time, may not share accommodation and facilities on the premises or over-night in your unit.
• No parties, events, selling of items, gatherings on the premises or at your unit.
• Do not buy from sellers/hawkers on the property or invite them in.
• All units are strictly NON-SMOKING inside and at communal areas, as per law. A cleaning fee of R850 is payable immediately or we may ask you to leave without a refund.
• Cottages: Air-con must be operated as requested and never be below 21°. The Manager may check the settings inside your unit when abuse or incorrect operation is noticed. Freezing of the unit will lead to no air-con and you will be liable for full payment of any and all damages to the air-con unit.
• No Pets of any kind will be allowed to stay on the premises.
• No tolerance for littering of cigarette butts, bottle caps, sweet wrappers etc. anywhere in the garden or at the carports or swimming pool. Deduct fine from deposit or fine imposed.
• Each unit has 1 (one) undercover parking bay on the premises, more vehicles will park were indicated with no cover. Luggage trailers have secure parking on-premises.
• Soiled, burnt, stained linen R50 – R200 /bath towels R170 & dish towels R25.00 will be charged for per item replacement cost and or cleaning costs. Mattress cleaning fee R400 single – R750 double. Pillow cleaning Fee R200.00.
• Extra linen ( except normal exchange) will be charged for per item of R25.00.
• Fixing/repair of cars, revving cars, slam doors, alarms on / off when departing early (before 7 am) or arrive late (after 9 pm).
• No fighting, screaming, swearing, loud television or music. Silence at 10 pm. The television/music volume must not be audible in your neighbour’s unit. 
• Consideration (silence) is expected when neighbours are sleeping i.t.o. music, TV, talking outside, slamming vehicle doors and alarms, between 10 pm and 7 am.
• Kindly do not remove the DSTV card or television, reset or change the settings.
• Kindly do not remove any unit/garden contents outside the unit or off the premises.
• Please do not steal and break our plants, FEED and hurt the wild animals or our pets.

• All legally required documents MUST be completed in full and payment documents signed. Information is kept as per law requirement and WILL NOT be shared unless lawfully required to person responsible.
  
  
• FULL PAYMENT & OUTSTANDING AMOUNT IS DUE ON ARRIVAL. ID DOCUMENT & CREDIT CARDS MUST BE PRODUCED ON REQUEST. Full payment is due for all the nights and number of persons booked as per reservation.
  
  
• St Lucia Wilds do not guarantee services and/or quality of electricity, water, roads, WiFi, satellite television, safety and medical facilities / help, at any time. It is not in our control.
  
  
• The iSIMANGALISO WETLAND PARK, A World Heritage Site, in which we are situated, is controlled by the government elected PARK AUTHORITY. KNOWLEDGE OF REGULATIONS & PERMITS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Wild animals roam free in and around town, keep your distance.
  
  
• Kindly check ALL ITEMS ON ARRIVAL & report discrepancies to reception on same day as arrival. Report any equipment not in good working order and may require new batteries. YOU agree to and will be CHARGED FOR all  LOST, DAMAGED OR BROKEN ITEMS DURING YOUR STAY inside or outside, for smoking inside any building, charged to your card or added to your account.
  
  
• No drunken, loud, unruly behaviour and or fighting (verbal or physical) will be tolerated at any time – (we expect your immediate departure/ to vacate premises).
  
  
• The swimming pool and recreation area is for residents of St Lucia Wilds ONLY. Due to close location of the pool to units, NO USE BETWEEN 8PM – 8AM.
  
  
• No children U12 WITHOUT 1 PARENT PRESENT, NO FOOD & DRINKS IN OR NEXT TO THE POOL. FENCE IS NOT CHILD PROOF – permanent opening for hippos.
